Tammy,Aunt Jane is here with us this weekend. We took her to an Indiana Prison yesterday (Saturday) to watch the "Freebird's Last Flight" presentation. Jane got up and spoke to the men --THEY LOVED IT! We had over 125. NOTE: Jane just came down to the kitchen to eat --Aunt Jane says, "Hi, and I love you". Ok back to the prison visit... Jane had so many men coming to her for her to sign a picture we handed out of Skynyrd from August 1977. It was a very special time. Keep up all the good work and we'll talk to you soon! God Bless,Barry & Joanne McGarrh (and Aunt Jane)

Good afternoon ,Tammy , I pray and wish you see this posting today. Red Alert... Stay Out of All Shopping Malls Today and on October 4th and 5th. Reports are in at stevequayle.com. The terror is back and if indeed you read this, know again that I am not a plant. I am a friend to be trusted and speak this by the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have been praying that all of my family and friends be awakened and saved to share this and that it will not happen. They are here and all the ugly is trying to breakout. These are times to stay close to family and friends , to pray and strengthen faith ,understanding, and with clarity ... Be forewarned , Do not take on any of the children and familys coming over our southern borders. Do not be fooled into the fema camps by the luring of "their" children. We are about to be introduced 13 yaers later to the "terror. Again We are in the birthpangs of the end and of these times , So please keep it simple. Drink crystle clear water and love the friuts of the trees. Slow down , Breath and let the doctor in You and yours Heal all of you and yours. Be all for the sake of common good but remember that their children are here with disease , and their intentions may be innocent thier makers are not. . I can only talk here, My e/m has been shut down as far as sending goes. I can recieve e/m and respond at personal sites as yours but i cannot no longer post at youtube or comment. In closing, I wish to say my only brother just passed on March 10 2014 and at 60 he was also w/me at both of the shows i mentioned in previous post. He was a brilliant giutarist and is missed by many. Pss my brothers name was Glen james Allenson, :););) xo
Dear Mrs. Tammy,
We have probably never met before, but if I were to meet you, what I would say is that what I love about your Father's music is that he was definitely a self made man, and he died doing what he loved and living the life that he wanted to live. Even if it was only for a short time, that short time spent is far better than living a long time in a life that he was not happy in, which is a horrible reality for far more than we all realize. Few people will understand that level of reasoning. Anyway, best wishes and best of luck to you!
Dear Lynn , delightful and refreshing to hear another speak from the truth , please folks i know you all also speak the truth and herein I just love and endear one when the heart be so open. She is the lovely gift of such a wonderful man, God bless you , Aaron ;)
Southern Writers that hit record shelves are limited, especially if new Nashville feels insincere.
Van Zandt did set a Folk standard with electric guitar & really pleases, and 1970's aesthetic is a good
place to be sincere.
Believing record stores have to weed thru that more recent mess of New products is key. As VAN ZANDT Family, learn ofcourse about TOWNES VAN ZANDT albums, yet painting & drawing are how intimate time begins with a stereo product. A humility occurs.
BRIGHTBLACK MORNING LIGHT is a roots Alabama band that makes record store shelf quality by each passing minute, therefore rank top UK.
Produced by Dixie's MR. SHINEYWATER,
featuring BOB DYLAN's Singers.
Really get these few albums & know the rumor was "best live music" to most of the cool Musicians.
"Closest to the Earth" live music California, is
written in the LA TIMES (2006).
Many Fans behind the scenes in NYC & LA.
Look into why "High Low & InBetween" by TOWNES might be a Netherlands Tribal value song, build from that as humility. Limit aesthetic intake will suit You personally best if Music becomes a future focus, get the Pete Seeger teaching books & try & understand why The Weavers gave so much, is because the Village wasn't car based then, We all saw each Other more in that era. A good stereo album can be a product that calls the Village together.
Another Southern Writer has great record store products as the name CAT POWER.
The Short List will appear after this collection as fragile, limited.
you rock .hang in there .

Hi Tammy, I just ran across your video Freebird Child over at youtube. What a powerful and a emotionally charged song. I was fortunate to see Skynyrd in 77 at Angel's Stadium in Anaheim, Ca. Couldn't of been a month or so when the plane accident happened. When I first heard about it my heart sank. Other then the story of the accident their was no news on any survivors. I stayed awake all night waiting for any updated news on CNN. Then my heart sank even lower when I found out who had survived and who was lost. At that point of time I never thought Lynryd Skynyrd would ever be again. I am sorry for your loss of your father Ronnie as you lost him to early in life. For me to think back at that time still brings tears to my eyes. I want to wish you well in your music career and know that your father Ronnie is looking down from heaven smiling and being very proud of you!
I as some others here have just ran across your video"FREEBIRD CHILD".My God it is powerful! You have a magnificant voice and I hope to hear a lot more from you in the future.I will be sure to buy your CD.You can bet I will be playing it just as often as I still play your Dads music.
Hello Tammy....what a beautiful person you are in ever way....You have your Daddy's heart, smile and Eyes...What a wonderful song and a loving tribute to your Father...and the dream does continue....Thanks for being Ronnie's daughter he did Well..

Your voice is beautiful - just like your dad's. I love the song FreeBird Child and am looking forward to your book. I have often wondered where you were and how you were doing - so glad to finally get to find this site and hear your music. Remember, Tammy, your daddy is watching you from heaven with a smile on his face.
Hi Tammy! I am Carmen's daughter. I was raised listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd. My mom has been to the crash site several times to take flowers. I love Freebird Child and hopefully my mom will buy the cd soon. She always told me Ronnie had a daugher before Melody, but we never could find out how you were doing. That's why I am so glad we found this site. It is so sad what happened to your dad. I am so sorry. Please know that he is watching you from the heavens and one day you will get to see him again. Take care and God Bless.
Dear Tammy,I am Carmen's other daughter and I am eleven years old. I know every single Lynyrd Skynyrd song because that is just about all my mom listens to lol. She plays this game with us and when a song comes on, she says is that Ronnie or Johnny singing. I usually guess right. I love your song. You and your voice is so pretty. My mom always says when someone close to us dies, that we will see them in heaven so I know you will see your daddy one day. I have never been to the crash site with my mom, but she went a couple of weeks ago and took some pictures. One day, I want to go with her, but I was in school last time she went. We have Freebird the movie and watch it all the time. I mostly listen to new music, but I do listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd because I have been listening to it my whole life. Ok, talk to you later. I might try to get on your my space when our computer quits being so slow. Bye bye. Jessi
Love your music, your dad is proud of you and he should be...gonna buy your CD and will enjoy it over and over again,Thank you
Great site, Tammy, and an awesome tribute to your dad! Added the link to your site here to the navigation bar on my own social network (just launched it yesterday so hoping it flies). Have a great Thanksgiving and God Bless!! Sharon
Tammy,Just incredibly beautiful and you have made it into an iconic, melancholy, soul-touching song. When I listen to it the loss of my Mom, or my Brother, or Jakson comes flooding back. Your CD is one that will always be special to me.In forwarding your song to friends, they are shocked about no air play. JosephP.S. Jak always said Payola still exists but that it can be beat!
Hello Tammy!! To discover your talent for writing andsinging, is such a tremendous and joyfulsurprise! You surely have your Dad's talents for writing and singing. My son and I are starting a Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Band soon. It is such an inspiration to see you embark on a project that is motivated by the passion of music, and the love of family, past and present. You do your Dad proud!
just been listening to your song... found by accident on utube. thank you, feeling really crap at the moment but good to know there is a God out there stillbless you and yours....
Thank you for recently adding me to your friends list it is truly an honor. Lacy was in the works to make another one of his books that was to include me my mom and Lacy I wish that could have happened. God took him by his side as I am sure he did with Ronnie. He was a great man to get to know and I cherish my times with him he in his own right was someone I looked up to and he inspired me to become closer to the man upstairs. I got to meet with Marlene and Marion also they are great down to earth people. So thank you again for adding me!!
Hi Tammy,I am Skynyrd Fan from the day I was born.Live in Germany and there will be a Skynyrd show soon. it would be nice to see you there to open the show.Never have known that good misic you do before. Hope to hear more soon. All the best from me and God Bless

TammyI live in Fernandina.Your dads uncle ECVanZant was my teacher in high school1973-1976.EC introduced us to Skynyrd with there first album.Miss Kid seemed to be his song of choice. We used this record for our test in the class room of TV and radio repair. He always told us stories of Ronnie and the band along with Donnie Johnnie & Jimmie his son. Love your stuff and let us hear more.Your dad was the greatest singer&song writer to every walk the earth.I have never heard a VanZant tune that I did not like. I still see talk to Janie and Jimmie from time to time.God bless you & your family.Rodney
In all honesty I really like the song ~ *Dixie Rose * ~it sounds like it was more ready to record and be played like on the radio something ya would hear on radio very nice song and nice tribute to youre grandma.Freebird child is wow a very emotional tribute from you to youre dad very nice very touching very special song wow if my daughter sang that to me id need boxes upon boxes of tissue but please i mean this in a positive good way take no offense to me for what im going to say but i think that the song freebird child it could have had a little more recording practice changes and added guitar and mixing and lyryc kind of change up tweeks for a BIGGER PUNCH that it actually has. It has huge roots or foundation of being EVEN BETTER than it allready is in my opinion but in any case keep making music aint it fun !! 10-4 over outs ..
Love the Freebird child song. Be nice to see you tour sometime.Keep up the good work.
Tammy,I found your beautiful song on youtube and came here immediately to order your cd! Hope your mention of a book comes to fruition soon, I'd love to read it before that last trip down a Country road... (very ill & stubborn)Bless you and your family, and may you all find peace and happiness together in the years to come.
Tammy,Great to see this site! Not sure if you remember me, but I was your Uncle Johnny's roadmanager before the Tribute Tour - I lived with Lacy & Sister, and have fond memories of hanging out together on the old porch (before the addition was added-LOL!) God Bless you Tam - keep it going and email me sometime - I'm still here in FLA
Freebird Child...wow! Fantastic!!!!
Tammy, frist off your song "freebird child" is a very beautiful and touching , it made my eye's fill with tear's as does many of ur dad's song's. I grew up listening to ur dad and the boy's from jacksonville,,, and as the year's have pasted i have turned my kid's on to your dad's music,,, just recently my son and I attended a lynyrd skynyrd concert,, and when we left he look in my eye's and said,, now i understand why ur so moved by there song's. please keep the flame alive for the next generation so that they may know the man ur farther was!!!
Your raw talent will take you far. Keep working and become the icon your Dad is!
Tammy, it's an honor and a privilege to have made your acquaintance up here in the "digital village". Thank you so much for sharing your stories and photos with the rest of the world. Your dad is a true American icon on par with Hank Williams, Chuck Berry, et al. You've got quite a voice yourself and I hope you continue with it. Furthermore, I hope to record together some time. That would be very cool! All the best to you and yours, always.

Tammy, You don't know me but my mother knew your father (Ronnie) very well. Her name was Alma Jean Stewart. She passed in the summer of 89' from Cancer. She's told me stories of your dad and the time she spent with him (guess you could say she was some sort of groupie back in the day). Anyway, I haven't heard your freebird child song yet but, I look forward to listening to it as soon as I post this. I'd love to talk sometime and share some of the stories my mother told me. You can find me on Facebook or E~mail me at email@example.com. We have a mutual friend already...Jeremy Vinzant. Look me up, would love to chat.Sincerely, Tabitha Jean Marschke Hankins

A big hello Tammy from London !! So glad to have you as a Facebook friend. Listened to your songs & enjoyed them. It must have been difficult for you losing your Dad but what you're doing now is so positive & music brings happiness. As far as I'm concerned all of Skynyrd are "rock royalty" along with Lennon & McCartney & Jagger & Richards etc. Just keep doing what you're doing & remember your Dad is still loved by people all over the world..good luck & God bless, Shaun Lynch.
TammyVery touched to hear your song.I feel I have so much in common, being I am in someway such a FREEBIRD CHILD myself....that we have the same musical roots and I think if take a listen to my songs and mainly one called Rebel Pride u will see are same enthuisiasm in 2 different songs that I feel totally compliment each other ....plzz take a listen at facebook site Rebel Pride/Dynamic Hat Trick....u won't be dissapointed I promise...your DAD is the greatest guide to me and still guides me spiritually believe it or not, in some ways he still lives within my music and I know he watches over me because he has for many years....He is my guardian angel and trust me....when He said He's Alive ummm he has proved it to me...and I am eternally grateful for him. I hope u will be my friend and thnx for the song...I loved it !!!!!
My wife and I like your Freebird Child cd and we like Lynrd Skynyrd.
My buddy and I listened to FREEBIRD CHILD at work and fell in love with it. We ordered your CD the same day.. We love SKYNYRD. Ronnie, Allen, Gary, Leon, Billy, Steve, and Ed King and Artimis will always be our favorite. Keep up the good work Tammy, we love ya

We live, in fact, in a world starved for solitude, silence, and private: and therefore starved for meditation and true friendship.

I saw your dad play knebworth with the rolling stones in 1976 i was a 15 year old lad and your dads performance that day blew me away...i will be 50 on may 3rd 2011 and that is one of my lifes great memories ,,,god bless you
I just wanted to say that your song FREEBIRD CHILD is so beautiful and your voice is so beautiful and I hope you are continuing to do more projects in the future. Its a real honor to be able to write to a beautiful free-spirited girl. I am such a free spirit myself and I think you and I would be such good friends if we ever were to meet. You are real, keep it that way!
Hi Tammy, I came across your site one time on You tube. I was looking up interviews about your father. I keep coming back now and then. You are truly Talented! You can sing girl! Why are we not seeing and hearing you all over the place? You seem like a beautiful person that has a lot to offer the world. God Bless you!
this comes from Munich, Germany. Many thousdand miles from where you lived as a kid i was 18 in 1977. Your father's music and - as strange as it may sound from a stranger - his hones personality expressed in his lyrics made a big difference for me when i was 18 to 30 years old ... For many years i knew the lyrics of EVERY LS song, "Alabama" made me start playing guitar (After 30 years I can play the opening riff ok, but not the solo ;-)). Songs like Simple Man helped me through many dark moments... and I am sure that music and especially the feeling of those lyrics meant a lot to many people around the globe of my aga. Today I am 51 and I play "Alabama" to my 8 year old son, and - a little - it feels as if i am introducing my kids to some old "relatives" ... That music is an inseparable part of my life, and every person who knows me as the guy who had "all Skynyrd records". I still have them all in the basement. Later i bought - all - the CDs, today I listen to those same old records on my iPod.
Your dad will never die, he's just not here at the moment. But then... he is!
All the best. Alexis
Hi Tammy, Saw you on youtube you sound great! I did'nt know your dad but from 1979 to 1982 I was stationed at Cecil Field NAS in Jacksonville. Went to Lynerd Skynerds West side bar alot and partied there. Saw Rossington Collins at the Colusium. Your dad changed music forever in history. I wish you the best in your music career. Take care, Robert
Ms. Tammy, I love Freebird Child! I can't imagine the strength it took for you to do this. I know I always cry when I hear Freebird. May God bless protect and comfort you and your girl!
Hey Tammy, where'd you go? I went to your house and you were gone. I hope your OK and the leave was a planned one. Please drop me a line to let me know if your OK and where you went(not for business, just as a friend). We contacted your trust management company, but I didn't feel right asking them about you and if you were doing OK. So dear, I would love to hear back from you.. Marty (Nathan too)
Too many time after kids have undergone such a tragic event, they slip into the dark night. Fans such as myself reflect on the family and wonder what happened to them. I am so glad that you took the step to sing. I loved the song freebird child. I tell my band members daily that the heart and soul of southern rock beats within them and I use your dad as a teaching tool when we write. I hope you continue to strive in your musical intrest.
I have so much I want to say, mostly thank you & God bless you Tammy! I met most of the band members a time or two & have a copy of Gene's book, "I'll never forget you".. Sending peace, love & gratitude:o)
WOW! Nice song and done very well. I just became a fan.
Your Daddy would be so proud of you! You and I met years ago at a gig in Santa Ana, Ca that you did with Jimmie. I have a whole role of photos from that show that I'd love to get to you. I emailed some to your Aunt Jane a while back, but I don't know if you ever got them.
Words wouldn't do justice to what your family means to me. Lacy invited me into his home before he passed and treated me like kin. Jane has been a wonderful friend for years. The spirit of all of the music runs deep in my heart and yours is heartfelt, just like Ronnie's was.
God Bless you!
I feel like you and Melody are little sisters to me, and I hope that doesn't sound weird. Your music is great. Please come to the Northern Virginia/ DC area and do a show. Thanks.
Ur dad the late great ronny van zant still lives n me everyday and always will live n me everytime I hear a Lynyrd skynyrd song I always think about ronny and the real man he really is
Very touching. I lost my father in '77 to another tragedy called cancer and I found your song touched my soul...
Hey Tammy I just love listening to that freebird child song and it just moves me thinking about ur dad Ronnie and a few close friends that passed on that song always says a message to u from ur late dad Ronnie van zant but his songs will always b n my heart and soul
I am a HUGE Fan of Skynyrd, your Dad "NEVER" wrote not even 1 bad song ! Can't say that about any other band.
I'm now a Father with a daughter that is 8 years old, and I'll tell you
Free Bird Child hit home for me girl , God has blessed the Van Zant family " SO MUCH" . First it was Brick Yard Road, and now your song. KEEP the FAITH and endure till the until !!!
Love to You and " ALL " the Freebird Family !!
I was wanting to find out which Junior High School your Dad went to.I found out what High School he went to, but before that it is not known. You, or someone should write a book about his entire life, if this has not been done yet. The longer the time passes without a book written about him, the more facts are likely to be lost and/or made unclear.I met the assitant road manager Dean Kilpatricks mother back in the 1980's at here home.I also purchased a used truck that had the groups sticker on it. That truck caught on fire because the radiator was low or empty. If you, or anyone reading this, knows what Junior High School your dad went to, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
It was good seeing you, Summer, and Darlene backstage at the 38/CDB thing last weekend. Hope to see you around more. Charlie and Nadine love you and speak well of you; therefore, it has to be true... right? HA HA!!! Have a GREAT day!!!
Dear sweet Tammy,
My husband & I are HUGE fans of L.S. we also are Senior/Youth Pastors. My husband would like to talk to you & ask you a quick question. Please Please Please, email me!!!
Thanks & we Love you!!!
Michael and Rina Marie down in Cocoa here. Haven't seen you in a few years (love your song), stay in touch! Visit our site often, we'll be adding some of our photos of your dad from time to time. I don't know if you remember them, it's been 13 years since you've seen them but we have quite a collection.
We are the official photographers on the Rock Legends Cruise and posting about 15,000 photos... hope you are going, but if not stop by and see the photos. It will probably take us a month to get them all up. If you ever need promo shots or CD cover shots we'd be honored! Be safe and keep rockin'! http://www.rocklegendsphotographers.com
Your dad is the single greatest and purest musical and song writing talent our country has ever produced. I was in college on that horrible day in Oct. 1977 when so much was taken from us so quickly and may God bless his soul and the entire Van Zant family for bringing so much joy to our lives. JimK (San Diego / Houston)
A couple of questions: A while back a website said your Dad attended Orange Park HS, but others say Lee HS? Did he attend both? Also saw that Allen Collins attended Forrest HS & Lee HS?
In Summer of 1976, I attended the "Sunshine Jam" at the old Gator Bowl. Lynyrd Skynyrd was on the bill, but unfortunately, had to cancel out at some point during the show. I never found out why this happened: Contractual problems?, political problems?--it was a benefit for Presidential nominee Jimmy Carter-- drug problems?, travel problems? I've always wondered about that and have never heard an explanation. Thought there might be an interesting story there? Did hear 38 Special that day though, and lots of other good music.
One last thing: I enjoyed hearing your Uncle Johnny play at a 1977 party for my HS. Good times!
today is the first time I have ever heard Freebird Child Its a beautiful song I have listened to it many times tonight and it brings a tear to my eye every time I was a huge L.S. fan, had my own band and played many many L S songs for years I quit the band after 39 years only doing local gigs but we were known for our Southern Rock and our Lynyrd Skynyrd material THANK YOU FOR A BEAUTIFUL SONG
what a powerful women to overcome all you have. Someday may I have the faith and freedom that you have, Your work within the prisons I know is well received and appreciated it. May God Bless you,
Love your song Freebird Child. You keep the memory of your father going through your voice and presence. Keep your music coming enjoy it immensely!!!
Peace & Love to you & family ~ Papa Rog
I love your album. You come from a very talented family!
I wish you much success in your future endeavors.
Brightest blessings, Stacey A.K.A. Gypsy

thank you very much
I don't know if you know who I am. My name is Jeremy Lee Henry. At the risk of sounding like a robot. I don't know. I don't know if you'd ever get it. I know who I could be. I don't have any memory of who I used to be. All though I know who I used to be. If you're on drugs this is going to be so confusing. I hope I can get my life together. Even though I'm not I'm still the same soul. You should see it written all over my face! Even since kindergarten! That picture is what did the trick. I hope we can meet some day. I know I don't know you but honey, I am the same soul... This is fucking weird. I hope I can get my life together and I hope I can get with the family. I really do. LOVE!!!!!! Can I just say one thing maybe someone like you would believe? I believe in the holy spirit darling I have it I sense it I use it. I can't sell it to you any other way and I don't know how your father (crazy huh) .... You get it? I am the greatest gift to my mom. You should see her. You would love her. She is crazy about music. She gave birth to me H O L Y S H I T!!! I'm talented today too. You better believe I blew up at 17. I'd hate to say it but I was the Santa on that sight. Not like I asked to be. I know all about Dope Felons and Revolutionaries. I get it. I really do. I hope ... idk ----------------------------------------n HERE'S TO NOTHIN!!!!!!
Not sure if you will ever read this but all I can say is your dad is smiling down on you he would be damn proud of his little girl
Dear Tammy I just listen to your song, Freebird Child and I can't say enough how beautiful it is, and how much it effected me. The tear's that flowed down my face as I felt the pain you must have felt is/was so touching and beautiful. I'm not saying your pain was beautiful, i'm saying the emotions I felt. I seen your Father several times and also the year of the accident and he was so great words aren't good enough to fully express my felling for him and his band. Anyway Tammy I could go on and on but I'll just say good luck and God's speed. Your Daddy would be so proud of you. God Bless, Bruce.
I loved Freebird Child. I miss your father and what he would have become. The fact that you keep yourself approachable is a gift to so many. Your father would be proud! And, I know his spirit is smiling every time you get a response and every time you act on his memory. I can't tell you enough about what it means to so many that you are living legacy for his wishes, or what he would have grown into and hoped for his children and grandchildren. There is still a big place to fill with his legacy. You ARE THE ONE to keep the memory alive through your lyrics and openness. The limited amount of facts and stories in print and documentary film is disappointing. Stories about the band and members leaving and fighting is great but, it has long been stale. No one but YOU from the family or close friends has come forward with so much a picture in nearly 20 years. While Artimus presents as a bitter and forgotten member of the band, he is probably right about some of his takes on those closest to your dad and how they behaved after the years after his death. We are fortunate to have you presenting a positive image for all of us in keeping his memory alive. I have visited every historical site I had time to find in the Jacksonville area. Just to get a feeling of what/where your dad lived. I hope the best for your family in the future. Thank you Tammy!
Wow!!.. Your music is wonderful !! Your voice is beautiful!! So sorry for the pain you've had to go through in your life. Sounds like your on the right track in your life now. You'll see your dad and grandparents again someday. God Bless u..💞
You are tough like your dad. From your dad, he lived in a tough west side area known as 'Shanty Town.' to those that did not know that. Though I sometimes wonder when I see a morning dove in the yard and it comes up to me, well I just wonder. Welcome back home after you, Jo Jo and Lesly worked for the prisons up north. Or is that Leslie.?

I just came across your name in a Skynard story so couldn't wait to check out your song on Youtube, what a great tune! I hope your writing and recording experience brought you closer to your father and made your own fans too, you are a tough person and special talent, in that you are very blessed! All the best from a new fan.
I have a ticket for the Baton Rouge concert. Not in great condition but still one of few. Would like to give it to you and the family to have another piece of your dads legacy. Reply I guess and would love to give you this if you want it.
I'm so sorry to hear of Tammy and her mom's passing. I'll be praying for both along with the family. Bless you all.
