Tammy,

Aunt Jane is here with us this weekend. We took her to an Indiana Prison yesterday (Saturday) to watch the "Freebird's Last Flight" presentation. Jane got up and spoke to the men --THEY LOVED IT! We had over 125. NOTE: Jane just came down to the kitchen to eat --Aunt Jane says, "Hi, and I love you". Ok back to the prison visit... Jane had so many men coming to her for her to sign a picture we handed out of Skynyrd from August 1977. It was a very special time.

Pss, hi Tammy ,I wish to share the two times I was able to see your fathers show at the oakland collisium "Day on the green series 1977 and again 1987 ten year reuion with your uncle Johny at shorline amphitheater in mountain Ca, and WoW, your uncle started Freebird singing and brokedown in tears, took off his hat and set it over micriphone and as he walked off stage the crowed roared to life , praised your uncle with loving tears as the lights were going down the music was reaching the intence and magical climax , I am still so awestruck and blessed to have seen this magic and Most incredible concert of this simple man's life, aaron looking foward to buying your new cd and your concert, Aaron :)

Good afternoon ,Tammy , I pray and wish you see this posting today. Red Alert... Stay Out of All Shopping Malls Today and on October 4th and 5th. Reports are in at stevequayle.com. The terror is back and if indeed you read this, know again that I am not a plant. I am a friend to be trusted and speak this by the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have been praying that all of my family and friends be awakened and saved to share this and that it will not happen. They are here and all the ugly is trying to breakout. These are times to stay close to family and friends , to pray and strengthen faith ,understanding, and with clarity ... Be forewarned , Do not take on any of the children and familys coming over our southern borders. Do not be fooled into the fema camps by the luring of "their" children. We are about to be introduced 13 yaers later to the "terror. Again We are in the birthpangs of the end and of these times , So please keep it simple. Drink crystle clear water and love the friuts of the trees. Slow down , Breath and let the doctor in You and yours Heal all of you and yours. Be all for the sake of common good but remember that their children are here with disease , and their intentions may be innocent thier makers are not. . I can only talk here, My e/m has been shut down as far as sending goes. I can recieve e/m and respond at personal sites as yours but i cannot no longer post at youtube or comment. Some jerk by name of danflynn at youtube is an ass. He sent me an e/m asking me to kiss hiss ass and he is a coward schill. Do not believe his b/s. In closing, I wish to say my only brother just passed on March 10 2014 and at 60 he was also w/me at both of the shows i mentioned in previous post. He was a brilliant giutarist and is missed by many. Please share this freely to family n friends as i am and have seen these tetrad blood moons in winter 1997 and know now more than ever Truth and understanding are coming down the great pathway of the universe and very soon, The Great Unvieling of the Universe, Love always , Aaron , Airborn Allenson Ps I lost both of my parents and know your pain well. Dear Mrs. Tammy,
We have probably never met before, but if I were to meet you, what I would say is that what I love about your Father's music is that he was definitely a self made man, and he died doing what he loved and living the life that he wanted to live. Even if it was only for a short time, that short time spent is far better than living a long time in a life that he was not happy in, which is a horrible reality for far more than we all realize. Few people will understand that level of reasoning. Anyway, best wishes and best of luck to you!

Hi Tammy,
I just ran across your video Freebird Child over at youtube. What a powerful and a emotionally charged song. I was fortunate to see Skynyrd in 77 at Angel's Stadium in Anaheim, Ca. Couldn't of been a month or so when the plane accident happened. When I first heard about it my heart sank. Other then the story of the accident their was no news on any survivors. I stayed awake all night waiting for any updated news on CNN. Then my heart sank even lower when I found out who had survived and who was lost. At that point of time I never thought Lynryd Skynyrd would ever be again. I am sorry for your loss of your father Ronnie as you lost him to early in life. For me to think back at that time still brings tears to my eyes. I want to wish you well in your music career and know that your father Ronnie is looking down from heaven smiling and being very proud of you!

Hi Tammy! I am Carmen's daughter. I was raised listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd. My mom has been to the crash site several times to take flowers. I love Freebird Child and hopefully my mom will buy the cd soon. She always told me Ronnie had a daugher before Melody, but we never could find out how you were doing. That's why I am so glad we found this site. It is so sad what happened to your dad. I am so sorry. Please know that he is watching you from the heavens and one day you will get to see him again. I am Carmen's other daughter and I am eleven years old. I know every single Lynyrd Skynyrd song because that is just about all my mom listens to lol. She plays this game with us and when a song comes on, she says is that Ronnie or Johnny singing. I usually guess right. I love your song. You and your voice is so pretty. My mom always says when someone close to us dies, that we will see them in heaven so I know you will see your daddy one day. I have never been to the crash site with my mom, but she went a couple of weeks ago and took some pictures. One day, I want to go with her, but I was in school last time she went. We have Freebird the movie and watch it all the time. I mostly listen to new music, but I do listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd because I have been listening to it my whole life. Ok, talk to you later. Just incredibly beautiful and you have made it into an iconic, melancholy, soul-touching song. When I listen to it the loss of my Mom, or my Brother, or Jakson comes flooding back. Your CD is one that will always be special to me.

Thank you for recently adding me to your friends list it is truly an honor. Lacy was in the works to make another one of his books that was to include me my mom and Lacy I wish that could have happened. God took him by his side as I am sure he did with Ronnie. He was a great man to get to know and I cherish my times with him he in his own right was someone I looked up to and he inspired me to become closer to the man upstairs. VanZant was my teacher in high school
1973-1976.EC introduced us to Skynyrd
with there first album.Miss Kid seemed to be his song of choice.We used this record for our test in the class room of TV and radio repair.He always told us stories of Ronnie and the band along with Donnie Johnnie & Jimmie his son. Love your stuff and let us hear more.Your dad was the greatest singer&song writer to every walk the earth.I have never heard a VanZant tune that I did not like. I still see talk to Janie and Jimmie from time to time.God bless you & your family.

In all honesty I really like the song
~ *Dixie Rose * ~it sounds like it was more ready to record and be played like on the radio something ya would hear on radio very nice song and nice tribute to youre grandma.

Freebird child is wow a very emotional tribute from you to youre dad very nice very touching very special song wow if my daughter sang that to me id need boxes upon boxes of tissue
but please i mean this in a positive good way take no offense to me for what im going to say but i think that the song freebird child it could have had a little more recording practice changes and added guitar and mixing and lyryc kind of change up tweeks for a BIGGER PUNCH that it actually has.
It has huge roots or foundation of being EVEN BETTER than it allready is in my opinion but in any case keep making music aint it fun !! 10-4 over outs ..

Tammy, frist off your song "freebird child" is a very beautiful and touching , it made my eye's fill with tear's as does many of ur dad's song's. I grew up listening to ur dad and the boy's from jacksonville,,, and as the year's have pasted i have turned my kid's on to your dad's music,,, just recently my son and I attended a lynyrd skynyrd concert,, and when we left he look in my eye's and said,, now i understand why ur so moved by there song's. please keep the flame alive for the next generation so that they may know the man ur farther was!!!

Tammy,

You don't know me but my mother knew your father (Ronnie) very well. Her name was Alma Jean Stewart. She passed in the summer of 89' from Cancer. She's told me stories of your dad and the time she spent with him (guess you could say she was some sort of groupie back in the day). Anyway, I haven't heard your freebird child song yet but, I look forward to listening to it as soon as I post this. I'd love to talk sometime and share some of the stories my mother told me. Hi Tammy,
this comes from Munich, Germany. Many thousdand miles from where you lived as a kid i was 18 in 1977. Your father's music and - as strange as it may sound from a stranger - his hones personality expressed in his lyrics made a big difference for me when i was 18 to 30 years old ... For many years i knew the lyrics of EVERY LS song, "Alabama" made me start playing guitar (After 30 years I can play the opening riff ok, but not the solo ;-)). Songs like Simple Man helped me through many dark moments... and I am sure that music and especially the feeling of those lyrics meant a lot to many people around the globe of my aga. Today I am 51 and I play "Alabama" to my 8 year old son, and - a little - it feels as if i am introducing my kids to some old "relatives" ... That music is an inseparable part of my life, and every person who knows me as the guy who had "all Skynyrd records". I still have them all in the basement. Later i bought - all - the CDs, today I listen to those same old records on my iPod.

Hi Tammy, Saw you on youtube you sound great! I did'nt know your dad but from 1979 to 1982 I was stationed at Cecil Field NAS in Jacksonville. Went to Lynerd Skynerds West side bar alot and partied there. Saw Rossington Collins at the Colusium. Your dad changed music forever in history. I wish you the best in your music career. Too many time after kids have undergone such a tragic event, they slip into the dark night. Fans such as myself reflect on the family and wonder what happened to them. I am so glad that you took the step to sing. I loved the song freebird child. I tell my band members daily that the heart and soul of southern rock beats within them and I use your dad as a teaching tool when we write. I hope you continue to strive in your musical intrest.

Your Daddy would be so proud of you! You and I met years ago at a gig in Santa Ana, Ca that you did with Jimmie. I have a whole role of photos from that show that I'd love to get to you. I emailed some to your Aunt Jane a while back, but I don't know if you ever got them.
Words wouldn't do justice to what your family means to me. Lacy invited me into his home before he passed and treated me like kin. Jane has been a wonderful friend for years. The spirit of all of the music runs deep in my heart and yours is heartfelt, just like Ronnie's was.

I was wanting to find out which Junior High School your Dad went to.I found out what High School he went to, but before that it is not known. You, or someone should write a book about his entire life, if this has not been done yet. The longer the time passes without a book written about him, the more facts are likely to be lost and/or made unclear.I met the assitant road manager Dean Kilpatricks mother back in the 1980's at here home.I also purchased a used truck that had the groups sticker on it. A couple of questions: A while back a website said your Dad attended Orange Park HS, but others say Lee HS? Did he attend both? Also saw that Allen Collins attended Forrest HS & Lee HS?

In Summer of 1976, I attended the "Sunshine Jam" at the old Gator Bowl. Lynyrd Skynyrd was on the bill, but unfortunately, had to cancel out at some point during the show. I never found out why this happened: Contractual problems?, political problems?--it was a benefit for Presidential nominee Jimmy Carter-- drug problems?, travel problems? I've always wondered about that and have never heard an explanation. Thought there might be an interesting story there? Did hear 38 Special that day though, and lots of other good music.
One last thing: I enjoyed hearing your Uncle Johnny play at a 1977 party for my HS. Good times!

today is the first time I have ever heard Freebird Child Its a beautiful song I have listened to it many times tonight and it brings a tear to my eye every time I was a huge L.S. fan, had my own band and played many many L S songs for years I quit the band after 39 years only doing local gigs but we were known for our Southern Rock and our Lynyrd Skynyrd material THANK YOU FOR A BEAUTIFUL SONG

Dear Tammy I just listen to your song, Freebird Child and I can't say enough how beautiful it is, and how much it effected me. The tear's that flowed down my face as I felt the pain you must have felt is/was so touching and beautiful. I'm not saying your pain was beautiful, i'm saying the emotions I felt. I seen your Father several times and also the year of the accident and he was so great words aren't good enough to fully express my felling for him and his band. I loved Freebird Child. I miss your father and what he would have become. The fact that you keep yourself approachable is a gift to so many. Your father would be proud! And, I know his spirit is smiling every time you get a response and every time you act on his memory. I can't tell you enough about what it means to so many that you are living legacy for his wishes, or what he would have grown into and hoped for his children and grandchildren. There is still a big place to fill with his legacy. You ARE THE ONE to keep the memory alive through your lyrics and openness. The limited amount of facts and stories in print and documentary film is disappointing. Stories about the band and members leaving and fighting is great but, it has long been stale. No one but YOU from the family or close friends has come forward with so much a picture in nearly 20 years. While Artimus presents as a bitter and forgotten member of the band, he is probably right about some of his takes on those closest to your dad and how they behaved after the years after his death. We are fortunate to have you presenting a positive image for all of us in keeping his memory alive. I have visited every historical site I had time to find in the Jacksonville area. Just to get a feeling of what/where your dad lived. I hope the best for your family in the future. Thank you Tammy!
